ParticipantBit of an odd one this is.
Callout was to a non-draining dishwasher. take pump off, remove the tiny rubber band from around back of impellor and refitted, tested, then 10 mins in waters got in the base and kicking in the antiflood. Anyhow, looked machine all over, could not fathom where the water was coming from (poor access) then checked under filter for knife damage and the 2 lugs that hold sump on to tank have vanished. Customer wears blind he knows nothing about it.
Its a conventional format bosch dishwasher with the side chamber and float etc (german one not one of the polish or turkish variants) which is all clear and clean.
Now usually you get rid of all the water, jiggle red reed to make sure it and the poly float are free and run it again with a couple of new tub lugs fitted to keep it from pouring into the base again which is what we did but even after cancelling the program the pump continues to run permanently, if you start a new prog it will fill but as pump is running all time theres nothing for the circ motor to spray around. Took pcb off (its only 18 mth old as it was a recall bosch) and got emw to do a replay replacement hoping it was due to the relay contacts welding closed (gets run on over night) but refitted that and no change.
Im currently at wits end as I cant think there can be much else to try other than a jug impellor (which i didnt spot it had until i was refitting the pcb)

have you checked the microswitch in float chamber as this put a live direct to the pump

Look carefully at the triacs on the board and one will almost certainly have a piece chipped off – one leg will be exposed. Pump has probably blown that triac……..
Difficult to fit surface mounted components; you can try to solder in another but personally I’ve had limited success…. so new PCB I’m afraid.Hope that helps,
Steve.

If I remember the wording in the catalogue, EMW only replace the heater relays on dishwasher PCB’s , nothing more. Anyway, the pump isn’t switched by a relay. EMW don’t recon and sell any BSH boards; so stands to reason they wouldn’t be able to cycle test it……. :rolls:

cheers guys,
firstly electrodave – i thought the same thing, but it meters out fine, plus when I activate it manually it kills the fill too. aqua steve I did not know the pump was triac controlled, although I do always check every resistor, triac and cap for damage before sending to emw for a relay repair. I did give a very cautious inspection of the pcb before sending it off, no triac looked chipped, although one was more “matt” than all the others, but it wasnt blown. and alan, going to pop round tomorrow with a jug impellor to verify that isnt the culprit, its an outside shot that its telling the pcb that its permanenlty overfilled but im not convinced. I can quite believe the pump triac is faulty, just not visually, or i guess the eeprom could have been corrupted?

Never got the chance – the *@~! customer went to currys and is, as it stands, refusing to pay what he owes for the call out and pcb attempt.
