ModeratorNot been out to this yet, customer complains of no fill but a buzzing noise.
Said machine was under two years old but having had a look on the Bosch web site I am not so sure. I was looking for a ‘mushroom’ jobby, this one looks like the bog standard Bosch design used in a lot of Hotpoint machines. If that is the case then I will attack the usual culprits, just wanted confirmation that this was that type of machine. 🙂Jim.

Hi Jim
Its the standard solid base type. I would personally be looking at low water pressure or tap off, gunge in fill hose gauze or kinked hose (if bosch hose used would be quite difficult)
No harm in looking for the usual gunge in clear pipe and metering/flood unit and water matrix 😀Greg

Sorted.
As soon as I found that the pump kept running when I opened the door I knew the area I needed to look at.
The customers cat had brought a fieldmouse in last week, still alive and as cats are prone to do, let it go.
It has found its way into the dishwasher and chewed the polystyrene float. It had somehow managed to push all the crumbs of polystyrene under what was left of the float and jammed the switch. A quick vac out and fault was cured. No sign of the wee beastie though.

Hi
They have fetish for the float material. I guess thats the idea as Ive never had them chew anything else, always the float when its fitted.Greg

The 180724 metering tank to sump rubber hose on early Hotpoints was a common mouse target, strangely, they always chewed it in exactly the same spot.
