ParticipantHi, I’ve a BOSCH SGS46E22GB/01 dishwasher which has been in Storage for 18 months. I plumbed it into the kitchen and have been successfully using the machine for over 2 or 3 weeks now and have had no problems. Then the other day I found a puddle of water on the floor and the ‘Check Water’ light illuminated.
I have asked a local repairer to look at it and he came over, looked at the machine and tested it with the water running etc. It was filling with water but trying to pump it out also. He suggested that it was struggling to do this and that he wasn’t sure but thought that it may be the ‘pressure chamber’ being blocked after being in storage for so long and that to repair it may cost quite alot and that it may be worth me cutting my losses.
My question is whether this is something I could look at and fix myself or is he right? My main concern is that I inherited the machine and could not afford to buy a bosch one again and may have to go for a cheaper model if replacing and am wondering whether to pay the perhaps £150/200 bill and keep the better machine. I’m guessing it’s around 5 or 6 years old in total (very good condition though).
Any help would be appreciated!!
Kind Regards – Chris

Certainly fixable and not too difficult. The engineer’s diagnosis was incorrect. What it needs is a part called an ‘Impellor Jug” (part no: 424099) that costs around £16 direct from Bosch. 🙂

Martin, many thanks for your promt reply.
Where is the impellar jug and how do i go about accessing it? I have struggled to even get the side panel off the machine as there just doesn’t seem to be a way of loosening either the top or bottom of the machine.

It is’nt easy to access though with a little care and DIY skills it is simple enough. Access via the left hand side panel, the lid needs unlatching first at the back and slid forward and off. Then the side panel easily removed at that point. Likewise a full view of the impeller jug is then possible. Common sense and know how then have to be applied in order it be removed and replaced, though it is also necessary to unclip the inlet valve at the back first. I’ll leave the rest to you and best of luck. 😉
