    Hi

Our Bosch SGS5312 stopped taking in water recently.

I’ve taken the solenoid valve out and it works fine if I run it on a test bench: buzzes and lets water through.

In the machine the valve does neither buzzing nor letting water in. Putting a multimeter across it shows 230V on both sides. I’ve traced the neutral line back from the valve to the PCB (hence past the flex point on the door) and its fine, so I’m assuming that either the controller is playing up or some fault in some component that the CPU uses to work out when to turn the valve on.

This started happening straight after if had been moved around, and it had been fine before. Are there any mechanical switched/interlocks I should check to see if they have been disturbed by the relocation activities?

    Any other thoughts also appreciated.

    TIA

    Hi
I would first check the L/H side pressure unit and tank and ribbed foot long semi ridgid hose from sump to pressure unit for gunge build up.
Do you get any numbers in the display? Does the door shut fully? What lamps are on?

    Hi

I’ve taken out and cleaned the shortish hose in the base to the left hand side, and checked that various microswitches and their actuators seem free to move.

    Doot closes fine.

When turned on the machine does normal things like:

    – Show a ‘-‘ next to wash
    – Has a short pump out

But then it stops, presumably waiting for water.

A ‘Reset’ (buttons 1+3) works normally: shows ‘0’, pumps out, stops.

If it has a fault ie – “Fill” it would show a particular code.
I wonder if it has lost its coding? or is a PCB fault.
At this juncture you are getting closer to a service call.

Re: Bosch SGS5312 not taking on water

Thanks for the help so far.

You mentioned checking the l/h pressure unit + tank. Is this the bit with the diaphram to actuate the ‘higher up’ microswitch? If not can you point me towards the right bit?

How would I check this is working?

And generally, we’re saying there aren’t any other switches that might be stuck or misaligned that the contol unit relies on?

Once agian, really appreciate your help to date.

Yes you have the correct area. Look for dark discolourment within that and the main water tank. The tank is non servicable but pressure unit is possible, I generally change them.

Only other part that could become dislodged is the float which is semi connected to the small red plastic rod from the pressure unit.

Re: Bosch SGS5312 not taking on water

    Hi
Had the same problem with my bosch although a different model i was close to just buying a new one ,done all the checks you have done,Thought it may be a air lock (believe this sometimes happens when moving around~) ,and seen as i was going to replace it this was a last resort,i took the bottom spray head off (just pulls off)and poured water water into the system kept putting it in till would take no more would say about 10 pints ,then closed door and turned on and it sprang into life thought it may just be the water in the system i had put in but 3 cycles later its still working fine ,i have heard sometimes they get air locks, wether this is correct im unsure but doin that has cured mine ,if you have nothing to loose give it a go
    hope it helps
