    Bosch Dishwasher SGS5312GB/07

Running a Normal 65oC wash, I’d opened the door a couple of times to add more dishes etc. then noticed that the control panel had gone dead, no lights. I don’t know what point in the cycle the machine had reached, but the bottom tray was full of water. With hindsight the machine had previously and intermittently indicated ‘F’ on the control panel display over a few weeks prior to the breakdown.

I replaced the on/off switch and tested continuity from the plug through to the control panel with the door interlock over-ridden and the switch ‘on’. The control panel was still dead. (At this point the bottom tray had been emptied of water). Previous posts on this board have identified the heater relay dry joint on the control panel and the burned out joint has now been repaired on my dishwasher by soldering a wire bridge to another joint on the same pcb track. There is now continuity from the heater spade connector to the associated joints on the pcb track. All to no avail, the control panel remains dead.

I’m reluctant to splash out £115 on a new control panel for a nine year old dishwasher which could be replaced for £300, especially when I don’t positively know that the control panel is faulty. QER in Workington have indicated that the main chip on the control panel may have been fried which would render the board irrepairable. I’d be very grateful for any suggestions on the way forward, e.g. are there any other possible faults which I could eliminate before either junking what has been a good dishwasher or chancing a repaired/replacement control panel?

    Thanks in anticipation,

    Hi
F indicates a fill problem for whatever reason.
Its not a good idea to interrupt the appliance mid cycle TBH.
There is a chance when you opened the door you allowed water to surge into electronics via door lock opening 😥
This appliance is approx 8 years so always a poser whether to plough cash into it or go for new 😕

Many thanks for your prompt response. Looks like its bite the bullet time. New dishwasher arriving next Thursday, I just hope mrs cassendilly is happy with her christmas present :o)).

An earlier poster on the subject of control panels for this machine put forward the view that it would probably cost about £9.50 from China. Junking what is possibly an otherwise serviceable machine for the sake of a high cost, low value component rankles more than somewhat. But then the articles on this website set out the manufacturers’ philosophy on spares and obsolescence.

    Regards,
