    Hi all,

My Bosch unit packed up mid wash last night. On the control board the tracks around the mains supply have completely vaporized! The board also had the burnt out joint on the heater relay.
I had a spare board that was swapped out whilst under warranty (due to normal relay solder joint problem – which a friendly repair man showed me how to do). So have fixed that and put it back in but still no heat. Put a continuity tester across the heater connector and it seems to be open circuit. Does that suggest that the heater has blown too?

All the other controls seem to work and it will do a programme reset.

How does one access the heater unit to replace it?

    Thanks in anticipation!

pull mains plug 1st then is best if you check heater itsself for continuity, access is behind right hand side panel

To replace the heater assembly, the cavity must be removed.

I’d put your model number into http://www.bshappliancecare.com ‘s eShop and have a look at the exploded diagram to see what’s involved……….

    Re: Bosch SGS5312GB/12 Heater

    Thanks guys!
Took side panel off and buzzed out heater element and all ok! (Had I bothered to follow the loom I would have found that the heater connection from the control board goes to the main switch – Good call smartin!)

So, I have removed the relay from the board and checked that so I’ll put it back together and see if it works!

    Re: Bosch SGS5312GB/12 Heater

No still no joy. The unit got hot on the back briefly then was cold again. So assuming that the thermostat hasn’t died, I will replace the board – more expensive but less hassle than the heater.

Don’t suppose anyone has a second hand one of those in their spares box?
