I think that after only 23 years my trusty Bosch dishwasher may have a terminal condition. Started it off this afternoon and it all sounded as normal – filled and wash pump started. Came back into the kitchen about 20 mins later and it was silent and with a hot electrical smell emanating from it. It was full of water but the main pump wasn’t running, and after investigating I found that was where the smell was coming from as it was extremely hot. After allowing it to cool the main pump if now very tight so I suspect it has seized. I’ve had a feel around in the pump entrance in the base and there is nothing jamming it.
A sad day as I’m very fond of that old machine and know that whatever I buy to replace it won’t be anywhere like as durable.
    🙁

you are correct the modern unit does not have anywhere near the quality. it is in real terms a lot cheaper which is why it wont last

I’m probably going to get a Beko to replace it as I’m not at all convinced the new Bosch machines are worth what they charge for them, especially as I assume they still have the rather fragile heater assemblies?
