My Bosch dishwasher SGS5312GB has worked perfectly since I bought it. However since moving house it no longer takes any water in. When I turn it on, it sounds as though it’s working fine (as in the sound of trying to drain the d/w) but then no water goes in, despite being plumbed in correctly. If i manually add water by pouring it directly into the machine, it does then work (ie it swishes the water round, heats the water and then drains it) but then can not get onto the rinse cycle without me manually adding water again. So no longer the labour saving device it was! I’m sure it’s something simple so would be grateful for any suggestions. i can’t bear the thought of throwing it away, as I’m sure it can work well again……..
    Thanks

If it’s coupled to a tap with a little blue plastic lever, remove it and try turning the tap on with pliers. Astonishingly common problem – the blue lever wears or cracks inside and just doesn’t turn the water on.

Thanks for the suggestion, but that’s not it. We can get water from the pipe – it seems to be the dishwasher that won’t accept the water – as though it thinks it’s hasn’t finished draining. Any other suggestions? Could it be the water inlet valve or float mechanism? If so how do i get access to check (and what am I looking for?).

More or less got to be the inlet valve in that case. The valve may have failed, or possibly wiring dis-connected when the hose re-attached. It’s a snap fit into the plastic plate on the back and can turn if over tightened, thus pulling the wires off. IIRC, you lift one end of the p;late and slide for access.

    Power off if you do.
