ParticipantHi picked up a Bosch sgs53co2 gb/15 dishwasher today that is filling for a few seconds and then emptying for longer over and over until you turn it off, it does this even with the door open. I have checked everything i can think of i guess it is a module problem but i was just wondering has anyone else had this problem? any help would be really appreciated :lesson: thanks

Probably flooded base OR crud build up in metering unit and transfer pipe at the lower front.

Hi thanks for the reply my internet keeps playing up has made it hard to get back on. The metering unit and hose are clear and i took the bottom off as there are signs the motor is leaking but still the same. The customer really wants it done but i guess it must be the module as well as the leaking motor so probably not gonna repaired thanks anyway tho 🙂

Spookily enough yes!…I had one just the same last week in fact. I took the base off, looked around and couldn’t figure anything causing it? I did mess around with the mushroom float in case that was sticking?? Again couldn’t see anything wrong?
Stood it back up, turned it on, still the same, pump/fill/pump/fill….very odd?
I turned the machine off and selected another programme and it worked just fine, no probs….Reset it….then put it back on the prog that was playing up…It too worked fine…..very very odd 😕
I told my customer to keep an eye on it and the moment it plays up to give me a bell (she uses it daily by the way)….a week has passed and she hasn’t rung me (yet!) 😉
So gawd knows….sorry…not much help there eh?

Some of these with a certain FD (which evades me) requires the replacement of the modified mushroom float assembly and module.

ParticipantIf its the plastic base model and its filling emptying filling emptying , it could be well be the flow meter . The flow meter being faulty will cause this problem . Part No is 424099.
I think what happens is that the flow meter (or impellor jug to give it its official title ) gives false information to the module , tricking the module into thinking the water is coming in at a much slower rate than it actually is . This means the inlet valve stays open for a much longer time and so overfills….this in turn sets off the mushroom safety valve. This in turn leads to the continual fill drain cycle that you’ve got .
It might be worth replacing this first before going down the expensive route

Mmmmmmm? Interesting theory there? In my case the machine never filled the tub at all, instead the moment you switched it on the water came in ( for about 1 second) then the pump for a second or so, then filled for another second and so on………no water in the tub so the mushroom float remained dry all the while?
Bugged if I know what was happening? :rolls:

Well it is only a theory 🙂 ……i think these faulty flow meters can cause some very odd faults with these machines. It is reccommended that they are fitted in an ‘upright’ position yet the pipework isn’t long or flexible enough to put them in this position
