    Hi

We have the above dishwasher. It has stopped washing properly and everything is wet when the cycle finishes, even though it seems to go through the full cycle. I’m fairly certain the water isn’t heating – butter isn’t melting off knives etc.

I’ve searched here but not really found an answer to what I should try to test check etc.

I’ve tried to run a diagnostic cycle, but I’m not quite sure I’ve done it correctly. I’ve powered on the m/c while holding both the ‘Auto Normal’ and ‘Eco@ buttons (also the combination to reset). The m/c comes to life with more beeps and flashing lights than normal, but I’m not sure what, if anything, they mean.

I’ve let it settle down, then pressed them both again. I think that at this stage the front screen has shown E0. Closing the door, a short cycle then starts with lots of beeps and every icon on the screen flashing on and off. When not flashing, the screen shows E0 and the vertical wavy lines, which I believe mean ‘your dishes are being dried’. Towards the end of the cycle, the E0 changes to E1 and that is what is displayed when the machine stops. Some time later the display reverts to just a 0.

Can anyone tell me what is wrong with it? Am I doing the test sequence correctly? Do any of the flashing lights etc have a meaning? What do the E0 and E1 codes mean?

    Many thanks

I cant tell you what the E messages mean but you should be able to check
the heater element for resistance (25ohms ish) which will tell you if it is a hardware
    or control board fault.

You will need to pull the plug out and then remove the top and rhs panel.
The heater is at the back lower right hand side-the two connections are fairly
    obvious.

There are plenty of threads on this topic.

Hi – Thanks for the feedback. I finally managed to get hold of a multimeter!

In the meantime, I’ve taken the top and sides off, checked various things, including making sure all the floats etc are clean and no pipes blocked, etc.

I presume it’s the two center connections which need to be resistance tested – there seem to be quite a few wires connected, and some to the center of the unit as well. As long as I disconnect what I presume are the center electrodes, are those what I then need to test? If so, I’m getting an open circuit – so presume that suggests the heater element needs replacing?

If so – can anyone please tell me the procedure for replacing it on my particular model (free standing, stainless steel interior, plastic base). Which direction do I need to come from to get at it?

Also, where do I find the part number for the element?

    Many thanks again.

You can get schematics of your machine on the Bosch support site.

    https://www.bosch-eshop.com/eshop{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}28bD1 … 65L22GB/10

Unfortunately you cannot purchase the element on its own and you have
    to exchange the complete housing.

Part number listed is 498623 at £70

There are quite a few threads with pics and additional info via the search.

I have swapped a couple myself but I would say its not your average DIY
    job.

You will see some screws at each corner and you also need to disengage the
    door springs.

You may find it easier to remove the base completely.

With some care you can just about do the exchange by dropping the base
slightly and using a piece of wood to wedge the two apart whilst performing the keyhole surgery 🙂

You need to release the metal collar that joins the motor to the heater.
I used a jubilee clip as its very difficult to get the original back on.

Take some pics if you decide to have a go -but take care and work SAFELY

you always have the choice of calling an engineer…..

A good machine -I use one myself that I repaired with the same fault.
