ParticipantCant remember my last Hotpoint carbon brush job! What I would give for a nice easy blocked sump hose on a Servis, or a bust top spring on a Creda!
Another D/W electronic evil heap of plastic crap.
Chill lee…… Chill.Customer complained appliance not finishing cycles properly…. shows 1 minute on countdown display never gets to zero. Eventually stops but still displays 1 minute to go.
found blockage in base of tank and in feed hose to sump. Cleaned out tried, worked, cool I am a genius.
Tried again…. and same problem. Checked manual and all of the program times listed are different, some longer some shorter.
Tried on short wash (should be 31mins but shows 13) Counts from 13 down to 1 minute and carries on washing still heating and definetily hotter than 35 degrees.
Sump clean and clear of crap, water level correct.
Only thing I did notice was some gunge in top of the tank but cant see how this would cause a proble??Ant brainwaves?? Board fault?

I’m not sure Ants have brains do they?
Not a board fault that’s for certain. Is the salt indicator showing? Check the one-way valve in sump? Above all check the final drain outlet or its coupling?
These machines have a infra red soil sensor so don’t read too much into the times shown and what the user booklet says as it varies wildly 😉
Personally I reckon its a drain problem in spite of your success so far from what you tell. But I would also look carefully at the top spray pipework etc…cover all bases before assuming electronics that after all on this model are top rate.
Have fun! 😀

Ants do have brains, they would never choose a career as a domestic appliance engineer, or buy petrol at 98p a litre!
Thanks for the tips, I shall return and av anuver go at it.
Is the 1 way valve in the sump part of the drain pump circuit, how do you best get to it?

Yes Lee, lift the pump cover and its the black rubber thing underneath that cover. Lift it out with a pair of taper-nosed pliers to clean! 😉

I did notice that sometimes while draining the pump pulsed on and off. Didnt think much of it assumed it was like a zanussi and trying to prevent air locks?
Any ideas on what may cause this and if its part of the problem?September 10, 2005 at 7:39 am #147087Martin

No that’s a normal function of that model. On ‘reset’ it pumps for 1 or 2 secs, stops, pumps 1 or 2 secs, stops then pumps for about 30 secs to complete (Not sure of timing exactly but something like that!)
