Bosch SGS6962GB/13 No water pumper to rotor arms

Hi,

My Bosch SGS6962GB/13 has stopped working. When you start any cycle, the pump operates to empty residual water and the water tank fills ok and then no water is pumped to the rotor arms to clean the dishes. The Timer continues counting down. I have taken the LHS panel off to observe this. There was some water at the bottom which I have drained, then reset the machine with the same result. Can you give me any ideas as to the problem please ?

Can you hear a faint humming noise after the fill sequence? If you remove the RHS panel, you will be able to observe the circulation pump. With the power off, you will able to check whether or not the pump is free to turn. If it does turn freely, most likely the start/run capacitor has failed.

Bad news, the circulation pump is not free to turn 🙁
I’m trying to turn the pump (power off) by using a screwdriver on the fins… it’s stuck fast, no movement whatsoever.

There is a slight oxidation build up on the outer casing and a small amount of water under the pump housing. Is it a pump replacement job or is there something else that it could be?

Not good….. The seal in the pump chamber will have failed and allowed water to run into the front bearing, which has now seized.

You’ll need a motor (267773) and seal kit (183638) – spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will be able to get these for you promptly. The real problem is fitting – the whole stainless steel cavity has to come off. As a pro, I can do it in about an hour and a half – you may need to organise a Sunday 😀 .

Is there a link to an engineering exploded view of the workings of my dishwasher so I could gauge whether to attempt it ?

OK, got my spare parts (thanks), I looked through the exploded view and drained the sump… Looking at the size of the motor and the impeller seal kit it looks like I’ll need to take the base off, or am I missing a trick ?? Is it easier to work at this by tipping it on it’s side (so the side is now on top) or to tip it onto it’s roof, back ?

All fixings in the base of the cavity, four screws retaining the cavity to the plastic chassis, door tension springs all have to come out. It’s advisable to get the fill matrix out of the way too.

Hi P45,

Do I need to take the door off or will it lift off with the stailess steel cavity. Have disconnected everything I can see that retains the cavity… wiring loom, tensioners, water matrix, salt reservoir, can’t see any screw at the bottom, but there is a hole at the front of the base behind the front cover (size of a finger) with arrows left and right and an up and down arrow – what’s that for ?

Good point – the hinges will stay attached to the base, so it’s got to go. Unclip the white inserts and the door should lift up and off.

White inserts…. they’re the ones on the underside of the door hinges, about 1.5cm wide with a ridge up the middle ? Having trouble getting them out in situ… do I need to strip the door panel off ? or is it a pair of pliers and a bit of elbow grease (don’t want to bust them !!),,,,, or am I missing something ?

Door outer panel off. The inserts just pop off sideways, honest.

Hi,

Nagging doubt re: the bolted capacitor on motor… specifically the polarity,,, there’s no indicator of polarity, so I take it the black & red wires can connect to either terminal ?
