ParticipantHi – the bottom spray arm on the above dishwasher does not turn.
I have checked and cleaned the arms – OK
I have checked and cleaned the filters – OK
The middle spray arm rotates fine so I assume water pressure is ok – there is plenty of water filling.
The bottom spray arm rotates freely by hand.
I have put a video camera (in a plastic bag) in the dishwasher and filmed with the lower arm removed – there does not seem to be any water spouting from the outlet.
Questions are –
Are the centre and lower spray arms fed from a common pipe.
Is there perhaps a valve which is not opening in the supply to the lower arm.
I have read the faq and am I right in assuming if it were a motor capacitor problem – the middle spray arm would also be affected.
Any ideas as to what is wrong.
About how much for an engineer to diagnose and fix.
Thanks for your help

If it pumps through the middle rotor, there’s nothing wrong with the circulation pump. The fault will be the alternator unit on the heater assembly. This switches the water between the rotors and has jammed in the “top feed” position.
Replacement is the only solution, you will need the entire heater assembly; p/no 483257 – an email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk for prices and ordering if you intend to do this yourself. You might want to think about that – it is a complete s@d of a job, involving removing the cavity from the base.
Power off if you are feeling brave.

Just to add to Mr P 😀 On rare occasions, it has been known for the said unit to damage the module aswell. Just to give you the worse case scenario 😕
