I have a built in Bosch SGV4313GB/17 which stopped washing properly and the pump now runs even if the door is open.
To make this post I have used the Bosch spares lists to name the parts as I am no expert.
I removed the front rail panel and found the corrugated tube from the pressure chamber to the sump to be gunged up and the base to be flooded. I cleaned the tube and emptied the base but the base flooded again after a couple of washes and I suspect tripped the float switch.
I removed the left hand side panel and found that whilst the machine is filling with water it is overflowing from the top of the pressure chamber at the point where the clear plastic water inlet manifold enters the chamber, there does not appear to be any seals here. The water supply also shuts on and off every five seconds in time with the rise and fall of the red float on the right side of the chamber, this is noticeable and I am sure it did not do this before. After a couple of washes this leak fills the base and I presume trips the float switch.

I would appreciate any help with this.

    Cheers

If you’ve cleaned the ribbed hose properly then it will probably need a strip down and clean of the pressure chamber…..or a new pressure chamber if you don’t want the hassle of cleaning the pressure chamber

    Re: Bosch SGV4313GB/17 Flooded base

I have thoroughly cleaned the pressure chamber, it was actually quite clean, it and the ribbed hose are now spotless.

I am still getting that leak at the top left end of the pressure chamber so I have turned the water supply down a bit so there is not so much pressure and that seems to have stopped the overflow. The water has been on fully for years so I guess ther must still be an issue somewhere.

Although the machine is now working, at the moment, does anyone have any ideas?

    Cheers

Sounds silly but when you cleaned the ribbed hose did you make sure the spigot it fits into in the sump is clear all the way through into the sump? You can easily clean this by locating it from inside under the filter.

Also, when you cleaned the pressure chamber, did you remove and clean the black plastic baffle inside it?

    Hi Clive

Yes its clear all the way into sump.

I stripped and cleaned the whole pressure chamber, no sign of a black baffle though?

I have uploaded a couple of shots here:

    Click on ‘slideshow’ to view

The pressure chamber picture has a red arrow showing where water is overflowing from, the other picture shows how clean everything is.

As mentioned with the water pressure turned up, the water overflows and the red float on the right seams to rise and fall during filling cutting the flow on and off (this might be what it is meant to do) but four or five times during filling? I am not sure.

With the pressure turned down overflow stops, but as mentioned the tap has been fully opened for years with no issues.

Again I would appreciate any help

    Cheers

    Hi

Sorry to post again but washer still in bits, waiting for some much needed help.

Can anyone offer advice on the fault in my BOSCH dishwasher.

    Cheers

    Re: Bosch SGV4313GB/17 Flooded base

IIRC the inlet valve has a baffle to prevent the flow rate being too high for the system. Leaking/overflowing from the point you illustrated can only be because the water is either not directed correctly through the chamber, or the outlet from the chamber and into the sump is restricted somehow, assuming the inlet valve has not been touched.

I’m not sure if all this series has a baffle in the chamber but if as you say there never was one fitted then there simply has to be a restriction. The red float may rise a little during filling but it shouldn’t rise far enough to operate the switch above it which is the anti-flood. 😉

    HTH?

    Hi Clive

Thanks for the reply, away at the moment so little slow in responding.

I have had the machine for 6/7 years and it has not been modified in any way, dont know if it has a baffle as you say, not being an engineer. It does have an aquastop on the inlet hose.

When I return home I will double check for any sign of a blockage although as the pictures show everything is pretty clean.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Clive

Double checked for blockages and as I suspected everything is clear, I have added photos showing this, follow link and view slideshow:

    http://www.photobox.co.uk/album/205788778

I have also added a video to ‘You Tube’ of the leak in progress, image is slightly blurry but you can make out the water overflowing at the point mentioned.

    Hope this helps.

Might be worth a try? Try turning down the water pressure slighty to the machine on neva valve see if that helps?, seems to be alot of pressure? Has your mains water been altered. Not sure from one of your pics if something plastic is stuck in the inlet on the sump? where the concertina hose goes?
NICE VID BY THE WAY 😉

    Re: Bosch SGV4313GB/17 Flooded base

    Definitely no blockages there! 😆

The bosch website HERE clearly shows the baffle i spoke about…your video (excellent one btw) clearly shows it missing 😆

I can see it filling too quick but can’t see this “baffle”. What’s the part number out if interest???

There isn’t one unfortunately….it’s a complete float chamber looking at the exploded view 😕

    Re: Bosch SGV4313GB/17 Flooded base

    Thanks for all the replies!

As mentioned previosly I did turn down the water pressure, quite low, this prevents the overflow, guess you could say problem solved but it definately ran before with higher pressure. Dont thing mains pressure has altered.

Looked at bosch website and as you mention there appears to be additional baffle, this definately was not in the chamber when i stripped it.

Part quoted here for my machine is as mine:
    http://www.partmaster.co.uk/cgi-bin/pro … 593:126216

Part quoted here for my machine possibly shows baffle:

Has this been an alteration to the design?

    Yours truly lost now
