ParticipantHi, I hope someone can help. The above Bosch dishwasher – about 5 yrs old trips the consumer unit breaker as soon as its switched on at the mains switch, the dishwasher power on button isn’t even on. This happened once before – and after cleaning filters, hoses, checking plug, fuse, plug connections and general jiggling – it worked again for about 6 months. Now despite all that above it won’t work. There was some water left in the bottom of the machine when it went. The only thing I can see from the outside is some shadowing on the back of the little white panel on the rear of the machine where the power cable goes in … but I don’t know how to get it off or whether I should try! All advice welcome. Thank you very much.

Mains suppressor blown. You lever up one end of the plate and slide to remove.
Part number 600233 – spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will get you one promptly.
Power off first, obviously.

Thank you very much for such a quick reply – just one more thing – is it easy enough to replace/install? Many thanks once again.

I’ve ordered it straight away so hopefully I’ll be able to fit it towards the end of the week – no flippers involved! Thanks again.

The back of the machine does not come off per se- there is an access panel as described above; or you remove the r/h side panel (lid off first) and get it that way.

I still need help – sorry, but i can see it from the side, but can’t get the white plastic access panel (with the power cord going into it at the rear)to slide in any direction. When trying to lever the white plastic panel two bits of plastic have broken off, but the panel does not shift. I can see the capacitor from the side but having already broken two peices off am reluctant to pull anythnig about incase I do more damage. Is it at all possible to confirm what should slide in what direction or give me any other guidance i.e. is it safe to pull the capacitor – I can’t see what its connected to on the other side. I have photos but can’t seem to upload them on this site?
Thank you for any help in advance.

Put a small screwdriver under the square end of the plate (as oppposed to the mains flex end). Twist the screwdriver slightly and push the plate in the direction of the screwdriver. The suppressor and connection block will slide out. Easy!!
There is no need to remove the wiring. Replace the suppressor by prising the old one up from the block, while taking care not to damage the 2 clips that hold it down. Then push fit the new one and slide the assembly back in to the machine and click in place.Power off before any inspection. :plug:
Hope that helps,
Steve.
