ParticipantHad a problem with clicking and probably not filling. Anyway I removed the heat exchanger and pressure unit, completely cleaned out the pressure unit and now the washer drains ok and fills to the right level (1-2cm above the mesh)
But the rotors don’t turn but do spray water 6 inches up for bottom one, dribbles from top. Water is being heated. Rotors are not blocked.
The circulation pump runs fine and I can turn the rotor by hand. The capacitor looks ok from the outside.
So I’m thinking check the impellor rather than replace the capacitor. Does this seem like the way to go?Have found the manual for the SHU range and they suggest that you can chock up the rhs to remove the motor. With our machine there seems to be (even!) less space with the control unit housing – so can it be done this way or does the top need to be completely removed? I’ve seen advice not to remove the top unless absolutely necessary…

Using a dentist type mirror you can look into the circulating pump to see if the impellor is choked with debris. Saves taking the motor out. 😉
My suspicion though is that the water diverter unit (within the instanteneous heater unit) has failed and the heater unit will need replacing to cure. 🙁

Ok so I removed the pump and it was a detached impeller (blades separated from base). Make sure you read the repair manual – google ‘bosch repair manual shu’. Different model but 99.5{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} the same. Interesting that bosch redesigned the impeller about 10 years ago and the new design failed in an identical manner!
You *do* need to lift up the rhs of the tank by about an inch in order to rotate the pump off the sump housing. You also need to document / photograph the connections to the controller unit, disconnect the connectors and remove the control unit (fixing tab on the back of the control unit). Reinserting the motor wasn’t too bad- just remember to support the sump. And detach/reattach the two rubber motor suspension straps before and after motor removal / insertion steps. -
