Bosch SHV4313 Salt?

I’ve recently moved into a house that has a Bosch SHV4313 dishwasher but no instruction manual was with it. I’ve never used a dishwasher before and I’m not sure how to fill up with salt. I unscrewed the lid of the salt tank in the base of the machine and found that it is full of water. Do I just add the salt to the water? How much should I put in? How do I know when to put more in?

Any advice appreciated.

Fill the chamber with granular salt until the salt is level with the top of the container (the water will flow out as the salt displaces it). If you live in a hard water area, repeat weekly.

Hi

Make sure you only use dishwasher salt do not use table or cooking salt or you will have big problems.
