ModeratorEnr. SPS6462GB/06 FD 7709 480244. Push button, control slimline.
Mains indicator on but nothing happens whatever programme is selected. Unfortunately due to a dozy install the laminated floor will have to come up to get it right out. 😥
Removed outer door panel, visual inspection of all switches and wiring harness shows them to be in near perfect condition. Good circuit through door switch & On/Off switch.
Manually advanced timer one notch and drain pump started to run, it stayed in this condition for two or three minutes but would not advance to fill. Could not hear timer motor running.
Advanced timer manually and the circulation pump would run and I could hear the timer motor running. No matter what position I turned the timer to it would not fill and I could not hear any soleniod energised.
Would an OC fill valve prevent the machine from starting or advancing?
Jim.
PS not over confident on that model number?

Would a flooded base stop the machine from stepping from Off position to very first drain impulse?

Poo, it looks just like the base on the Hotpoint ones of the same age, a real pain to get into. 😥

If I remember correctly, yes. On the older d/w’s instead of running the pump all the time a flooded base cuts the feed to the timer motor.
So unfortunately it’ll have to come out 🙁

if you guys don’t use one, i can highly recommend an aquavac or anything that sucks water. in this scenario i would attach a bit of cutoff fill hose to the nozzel and insert it into the base. seconds later all water sucked out and ready for a run. if it doesn’t leak again, jobs a good un.
imagine the washer stuck full of water tight under the bench, mains cable like piano wire, hoses the same. filter at floor level or worse, no filter. as long as it’s not blocked with a sock, it’s drained down in a couple of minutes. (o.k.you might have to empty the vac a couple of times).
on a good day i reckon my vac saves me at least two hours.
