ParticipantIt hasn’t been used for 2 years.
The bosch seems to have a problem with I think a thermal switch.
It will start the wash cycle but it just seems to get hotter and hotter and it just carrys on washing, the only way to continue is to move the knob round to the drain cycle. It then does the same on the rinse cycle.
So I figure it must be a temperature sensor. Though I know very little about dishwashers.Any ideas and recommendations please
Thanks

ParticipantAlmost certainly a stuck thermostat. This a 65c normally open stat. The timer is stopped for heating until the thermostat closes the circuit and restarts it. Obviously, if it doesn’t, it stays in the heat position.
The other possibility is broken wiring in the door.
If you are unsure of your abilities, get help – you can pop your postcode up here and a UKW engineer wil pick up on it. :plug:
If you’re going to have a look yourself, pull the plug first.

It does sound like a thermostat problem to be honest.
Possibly a lead has become disconnected or something silly like that ?
If you’re having a look inside, please ensure you remove the plug from the socket 1st (may seem obvious but…)

Added to the Shop@ poste haste 😉
Mainly Hotpoint models listed jonsco but it’s the same thing, Hotpoint used these Bosch made dishwashers for a few years 😉

Hi chaps
thanks for the item, which i have ordered, which prompts another numb question.Have downloaded the schematic from the Bosch web site but it is not exactly clear as to the location of the stat, do you get to “under the tub” as so well explained by Penguin45 by laying washer on its back?
Sorry Guys but am an IT engineer, am use to smaller things
Thanks in advance

ParticipantWith the machine unplugged, remove the lower front cover, the thermostat is attached right of centre to the underside of the tub towards the front- a small ceramic block with two wires attached.
No real need to tip the machine over – it can cause its own problems.

just one other point, came as some suprise to find the forums split up in the last 24 hours, even more surprised to find that my dishwasher had landed in the washers section.
I have to say that it must have been a major feat to split up over 3k of posts, major, major task
all the best

ParticipantDedicated?
More like fanatical………..
A few of the Trade members have actually done a quite staggering amount of work to make the Public forums more practical to use, so hopefully everybody will reap some benefit – not least us Mods – it can do your head in after a while trying to keep up with the the posts you’re sorting!
Let us know how the stat works out,

Hi Guys
Just to say thanks the old Bosch is working a treat, really appreciated.
Not to mention moving my posting into dishwashers, just when I had got used to it being a washer.
Cheers
