    4 year old Bosch dishwasher – SMS40C32GB.

The water pipe which runs partially runs up the back wall is attached to a metal bracket. This metal bracket is then supposed to be welded/soldered to the back wall.
The weld/soldered join broke thereby freeing the metal bracket and the pipe from the back wall.

The spray head on the upper shelf then “docks” in to this water pipe to source water. When the upper tray is pulled out to fill with cups etc, the tray undocks from the back wall water pipe.

Unfortunately, as the bracket is now detached from the back wall, the entire pipe pulls out which the tray until it eventually releases and smacks against the back wall.

Bosch only had a pitiful 2 year warranty so I’m looking to solve this issue myself by soldering the metal bracket back on to the back wall.

Is this doable? Not sure what the metals are composed of.

That will have been spot welded to the stainless steel back. You certainly won’t be able to solder it, and all I can think of is drilling a hole and using a self tapping screw to hold it, but don’t know if that would cause other issues.

Thanks. Definitely can’t spot weld and dont want to risk punching through the back wall and introducing some other issue as you said.

Have you any thoughts on using cold weld (like JB Weld Original Cold Weld) or some other adhesive?

Some guy mentions Loctite 316 which I just found mentioned here https://www.justanswer.com/appliance/alp0i-customer-bosch-dishwasher-mod-no.html ?

I really don’t think you’ll be able to glue it, but I suppose it’s worth a go. If there’s nothing behind the back at that point then a mechanical fixing would be more likely to work.

i dont think there is anything at the back so drilling a hole or 2 should not cause a problem.

you would need to find stainless nuts and bolts and add fibre washers plus sealant to stop water leaking

as far as glue is concerned look at araldite but not the rapid. you will need to secure it in the correct place while it cures and i find a bit of heat helps to set it properly

it will take heat with no problems as my dad used to put it in an oven to cure it and it can stand all sorts of corrosives with no problem

Super, I’ll swing by Halfords and pick some of the standard stuff up. Will report back.

    Thanks!
