Hi All.

I have had the unit 10 years and all has been good up until last year around July. I have my first “blockage” in the pump and had to take the machine apart to unclog the drainage pump. I believe it was an E21 or E24… i can’t remember.

Moving on to the beginning of the month I have had noticed unit not cleaning properly and didn’t also realised drying wasn’t 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}.

I clean the drainage pump as before and took it off etc and re-seated and thought all was well and sure enough the machine continued to work but It appears not to heat up as much as I remember. I have made sure the baskets are in place and put on a 30 min cycle and half way through its “warm”, but I don’t seem to get that “open the door and steam in face” anymore!

I believe this model has a heat pump and not an element in the tub and might take this apart and check the ohms on the pump if I can find it, but are there any diags I can run first? The ones listed online suggest Scrub cycle and normal cycle and turn on the machine but I don’t have scrub just “intensive”/Auto Daily/Prerinse/Eco and Quick.

I tired pressing Intensive and Auto daily first and it comes up D0 but i press them again nothing happens.
Any ideas?

As there is “some” heat during the quick cycle would that suggest the heater pump is ok but maybe the circuit has a fault?

Let me just clarify one point for you, it has a heater AND a pump combined. Bosch refer to it generally as a heatpump which, by definition, is misleading.

Question: Toward the last moments of the cycle and if you were to stop it and open the door would steam billow out? I’m guessing from your post the answer is no. So the heater needs replacing. And after all the years you’ve had it it is not surprising.

Many thanks for the reply. I have been so busy and not able to look into this further. Tonight after work I intend to take the heater/pump off and take a reading of ohms etc and perhaps take a look at the control module to see if there are any burn outs.

So managed to get to the Heater/pump and using a multi meter found the following whilst there wasn’t any power to the machine:

Pins – 2-3 = 10 Ohms
Pins – 3-4 = 10 Ohms
Pins – 2-4 = 19 Ohms

Pins 5-6 = No reading
Pins 6-7 = No reading
Pins 5-7 = No reading

I don’t know if I have carried this out correctly as the pins 5 onwards on a post I found suggest they read this at 25 degrees so does this mean whilst machine it running a cycle?

I don’t know if this means the heater/pump is faulty? If not then I have a “control box” infront of the heater/pump in a white case, is this the next place to look for dry joints or blown components?

none of the readings there are the heater

10 ohm is too low to be the heater am assuming it may be the motor windings

as for the other readings you may have your meter set too low. there are 2 NTC devices (electronic thermostats , variable resistors that change with temperature hence the 25 degree )

So judging by the above Measuring heater resistance 10,10 and 19 is “about” right?

I would say so yes. Maybe the fault is within the main circuit board? The heater relay on that board perhaps?

Ok, so tonight job is to take out what I believe is the main circuit board ie in the white plastic shielding near the heat pump and look for burn outs or dry joints.

Ok, so visually inspected the main circuit board and the pic are here: (Posted links as the IMG headers didnt seem to work!
I didn’t see anything that looked dry or blown but I am not an expert!

So if the ohms on heater/pump are ok and the main board looks ok… do I just get a refurb on the mainboard just in case?
