Participant(Spare parts searches have SMS53E12GB/some number but the label on the back just says SMS53E12GB. The control unit is EPG60110 dated 10.03.2010, the wiring to it looks OK and I reseated the connectors but it made no difference)
Searches suggest the heater or the control unit. The dishwasher stops about an hour into the cycle and the dishes are dry but not properly clean. There has been hot water in it (it’s slightly steamy but perhaps not as steamy as I’d expect).
Judging by the control unit date the dishwasher is 9 years old so replacing the £100+ controller doesn’t seem worth while but I read here something about fixing another dishwasher that had a dry joint on the PCB.
What is your advice?
Thanks.

Participant(It seems you have new forum software which unfortunately doesn’t accept error codes as search terms because they’re too short.)

ParticipantThanks, looks like I’ll be buying a new dishwasher then, I was kind of expecting that.

it was a common fault on Bosch dishwashers for the heater relay solder joint to fail
if your looking for the model its normally on top of the door on the silver part on an almost invisible label

ParticipantThanks Dave, I’ll give that a try and report back.

ParticipantOK, no sign of any overheating joints and I didn’t know which of the 5 relays was for the heater so I went round them all and reflowed the joints. It certainly had an effect – now I get an E28 error (drain error) after a minute 🙁 Oh well, it was worth a try.

Moderatoron later machine they measure the pump current to determine when its empty. a very worn pump can take more current and fool it but it could just be the board
on earlier machine they use an air operated pressure switch
