ParticipantCalled to a machine where the door catches when opened or closed.
The fold in the the strip that clips into the plinth catches under the bottom of the door panel so catches as the door opens.
The easy answer is to either remove or cut the flap of the strip back. Are there any other ways to rectify this?

DaveNo, when the machine was supplied there was a plastic strip that clips into the top of the plastic plinth under the lower edge of the outer door panel. I believe this is to reduce the noise levels. The gap between the door panel and plastic plinth has reduced causing the panel to catch on the clip in plastic strip.

would check the hinge bearings if you have not already had a few of these break and it drop the door about 3mm.
no other reason I can think of

DaveThanks Dave,
If I tilted the machine back so there’s no weight on the front feet it doesn’t happen as the plinth comes down a bit. I raised the machine on it’s feet in case the plinth was pushed up by the floor and the fault returned.
I’ve not come across broken hinge bearings before on these. The machine is not quite 3 years old with only moderate use also free standing so not taking the weight of a door panel so hadn’t considered this but will go back and take another look.

agree its unlikely but its one of those cant find a fault problems so you look for the impossible

agree those strips can be a pain once they start catching, not that I have had one affect the door lock mind, but quote for a new plinth or give the customer the option of removing it is the best plan of action. (and you can guess what they will go for)

It doesn’t affect the door catch, just catches at the bottom.
I don’t think a new plinth will solve the problem. I have removed the strip for he customer but wanted to find out if there was another solution? -
