I’ve an eleven-year old Bosch D/W (Model: SMS6012GB) which has been abs faultless until now…

Tonight, I’ve found that I am unable to switch ON the machine – although I depress the main switch, it doesn’t ‘latch’ and the power light does not stay on. (It does however seem to operate if I hold the main switch in place). I’m not sure if this is a simple mechanical switch or a ore-expensive electrical relay problem?

Just for information, the night before, I noticed it stopped mid-(rinse) cycle for no apparent reason. By switching off, advancing the dial and switching on again, I was able to progress the remainder of the cycle.

Is this the end of the road for my machine or is it worth an investigation…..

    Any thoughts very gratefully received!

Switch failure – replacement is the switch bank, p/no 095484. Around £60 last time I checked. spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will get one for you if required.

Impressive response and the hour is so late!

Is the switch panel ‘dumb’ in that it should mechanically latch on and off? I mean, there’s no electrical governance of this switch – no other failure preventing this switch from staying on?

Is the switch fairly easy to install oneself – power disconnection and obvious prerequisite?

On/off has two funtions when pushed in and held, it advances the timer. When released, it should latch in the “on” position to maintain power. When pushed again, it should release to the “off” position.

Six screws and the whole outer panel will swing free, revealing everything.

And yes, power off, of course.
