ParticipantOur Bosch SMS6032GB/14, serial FD7412099924 (I think!) has started leaking from the water matrix after many years faithful service.
The upper chamber fills the required three times, with the lower reservoir initally empty. On the 1st and 2nd fills, some water is left in the lower reservoir – 1st an inch, then 1.5 inches. On the 3rd fill, there is so much water already in the lower reservoir that it overflows, both at the top of the tipping sensor (the gap where you find the red microswitch that stops the upper reservoir filling), and in a couple of air vent holes to the right of the sensor.
There is maybe 30 to 50 ml (it’s hard to tell) of overflow water – not a lot, but enough to stain the woodwork round the machine. The machine itself seems to work fine, cleaning as well and as quickly as always.
When I take out the coarse and fine filters, there is a little water at the bottom of their original locations – not sure whether this is normal. Also, I don’t know whether it’s relevant, but the machine has also stopped a couple of times in the last month during the rinse stage – momentarily selecting ‘prerinse cold’ then back to ‘economy wash 55’ allows the cycle to complete.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

Hi
If you remove L/H panel and locate the “S” shaped 1″ diameter hose that goes to the sump. Then proceed to remove it and give it a good rodding and cleaning.
There will be some water so be prepared and remember to unplug appliance prior.
You will find it easier with applaince on its back after removing panel 😉Greg

Brilliant! You’re a star, Greg.
I managed to remove the end attached to the matrix, but couldn’t even see the other end of the hose, never mind undo it, so I rodded it in place with my daughter’s trumpet cleaner (a yard of springy metal with a brush on the end). Loads of black muck came out into the main sump area of the machine. I cleaned that up, then ran the machine on a wash cycle – the lower reservoir is still left with some water after the 1st and 2nd fill (I guess that’s “working as designed”), but on the 3rd fill the water now drains out as fast as it comes in, so no danger of flooding!
Many, many, thanks,

Wash trumpet cleaner in dishwasher before daughter finds out what you’ve done……… 😀

Thanks for the suggestion, Penguin45 – gave me an excuse to have another test run of the machine, and the brush was pristine afterwards. Don’t think she’s noticed yet… 😉
