:rolls: My machine wont take in water on some programs, but will on others! If it aint gonna take in water, it stops after about 3 minutes with Error Code 24 and Check Water indicator lit. I have verified that the filters and the outlet are clean/clear and there is water supply full on, as it fills and runs ok on some of the programs. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Oh, an expensive part was fitted, the water chamber, by an engineer, but did not make any difference. Should I throw it away?

It’s a drain pump issue, a blockage or restriction of some kind from the pump Impellor to the drain outlet? Could even be a faulty circulation pump in some cases. Check for blockage first.

Thanks for your suggestion. I did check the impeller thingy, as it says in the user guide. All seems clear. The machine does work, taking in water and expelling it on the programs it works on.
If I may add another observation: if, on a program it fails on, about 1 minute after starting it, I switch off the mains, then on again, it takes off!

By that you mean in then works OK? If that’s the case do just that every time and forget thoughts of binning it. 😉

Yes. It does work then. Two problems though.
    1. I need to run the machine offpeak rates so awkward.
    2. Once it starts, I can put he machine on to an external timer, and it does then come back on in the night. However, it has twice, when I go to it in the morning, come back, saying machine has not been started! Damned complexities of computer controls!

I wouldn’t turn my back on these appliances, no way Jose’

Leaving them on and go to bed? Never…! Faith and complacency in the modern domestic appliance is pure folly. Take my advice : Don’t. 😉

Thanks for your reply. I do need to run the machines at night. I am coming to the conclusion that the problem is with the control electronics, or whatever it’s name is. Am I correct? What is the correct name please so I can order it. Unless something else is to blame. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don’t think so as it appears the control module is doing its job and telling you there is a component error by flagging up the E24 error code. And I’ve already touched on what E24 relates to anyway.

Thanks Martin for all your help. You said earlier, that it could be the drain pump, but could also be the circulation pump. My question is, is it possible to pinpoint which one it is? I came across a thread on here,
    http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/forumsphpbb3/dishwasher-forum/siemens-stops-prerinse-t70819.html

and that is my problem exactly. In that case, the poster ended up replacing two pumps. Any pointers on how to determine which pump to replace would be of immense help. I could tell the repairer to do his homework first and avoid problems. Thanks in advance.

Does anyone have any ideas? Is it possible to pinpoint which pump is the culprit?
