Hi there – my Bosch SMV50C00GB/13 dishwasher has been finishing the cycle with either the ‘tap’ light flashing or the ‘plate with steam’ light flashing. Also there doesn’t appear to be any residual heat. Suspect the heating element but it appears to be an integral part of the pump rather than separate element. Measured between the element terminals (there are three but one is earth so didn’t go across that one) and got 29Mohms which suggests it’s gone open circuit I’d say. Couple of questions if anyone can help. Firstly do you agree with my diagnosis and secondly do you know if it can be purchased as a separate part. I’ve seen on espares that a heater pump complete is £150!

well bosch direct only want £119 so at £150 thats a bit steep

but we have it cheaper in the site shop

    part no 651956

and yes element should be well under 100 ohm so at 29 megs its well out of it

Great, thanks for the advice and the link to the product. I’ll get one on order.

“I’ve seen on espares that a heater pump complete is £150!” Yes it is steep but that is E Spares for you. The real reason, in this case, is that Bosch/Neff/Siemens dishwasher element / motor = heat pump are apt to miserably fail again….and again after that. Dreadful stuff and utter rubbish. The last straw when I repaired dishwashers was on a built-in Bosch where the heater unit lasted less than 3 minutes until the dreaded house trip pinged off. You have been warned but maybe you will get lucky..

    Hi andyjawa

i did order a replacement and fitted quite easily and guess what: it’s failed! You were absolutely right. RCD tripped, reset, tripped…. before realising it was my £109 replacement. So I’m now thinking I need to get a new washer but want one that does not have one of these dreadful heater pumps. From your experience is there any washer out there with a different heating/pumping system that might be more reliable?
