After you have removed the wiring connections, depress the tab circled below and twist towards the front.

Thanks for all your help guys, I managed to split the drain pump but found no blockage, the impeller seems to be sprung is this correct you can turn it and then it springs then turn again etc. Have tried it again and it sounds like the pump is trying and going through various settings i.e. I can hear what sound like relays clicking in and the pump makes various noises.
Not used to not being able to mend things, but it’s looking like a new dishwasher.
Any recommendations, it has to be a slimline. Looked on Which? and they still recommend Bosch but after the palava I have had with this one I am not sure.

I’d recommend the Bosch too, or rather the Siemens version of it, with the 5 year guarantee. Then you don’t have to have anymore ‘palavas’ 😉
But first, I’d say…
Get an engineer to it! It sound fixable to me.

Just to report back, I kept the pump off, ran water through the machine on a cycle, collecting the waste water as I went on and it all started sounding better. I put it all back together and it seems to be working fine.
Thanks again to all those who helped and yes goatboy it was worth looking at again.

Goatboy, don’t worry, I am an electrician. I fiitted an external hose to the drain and took the water outside. Thats why I don’t know what caused the problem. The dishwasher was plugged into a RCD the whole time, no water entered the base whislt the machine was on.
