ParticipantGood evening
I have spent the evening attempting to rectify a problem with our 3 year old Bosch SRS43C12GB 450mm dishwasher. On opening yesterday the bottom of the inside above the filter etc was full of water. I have ladled all this out as suggested on the bosch website to find the mysterious impeller. The pump is attempting to pump and when I open the door a little water is “spat” back into the machine, no water however is leaving the drainage pipe which i have outstrecthed through the back door to allow it to sit flat.
I have taken the top and sides off, on this model can i actually access the impeller or do i have to strip everything down to access the pump. When the pump attempts to pump out I cannot see any water or indeed any movement through any of the pipes.
I don’t think it looks particularly bunged up with fat or anything

Drain pump is accessed by removing the lower front cover plate. It’s a twist fit. Removing door outer panel makes it a bit easier. From your description, it sounds like the pump is actually running, so it is possible that there is a blockage in the matrix (the rear two tubes). Consider that a bit of broken glass will be invisible in the water.
Power off first.

Wow, thanks for the quick reply.
I have taken off the metal plate and can pull a tube away from the drain mechanism. How would i find any potential blockage

just in case you have already removed the small pump inspection cover inside, it will not pump water with it removed 😉

Is that grey plastic assembly around the filter? Can’t see any interlocks or any other type of switches on that.
The pump is running, as I switch on it starts and then changes frequency after a couple of seconds as if it is attempting to turn. I am an electrician and am used to working with electric motors. How can i actually get to the impeller to attempt to turn it as I think that may well be the problem. As penguin mention it could well be a piece of glass or something similar.

No internal access on this one, SM.
Drain pump is a twist fit; side matrix unclips and lifts away.

No worries smartin thanks for trying
Is the matrix just the one large piece of large of plastic that the two rear tube and the blue pipe enter into. So if I remove the two rear tube and undo the circlip on the blue pipe I should be able to get to the pump and ultimatley the impeller. The rest of the mechanism looks like it was built by the people who invented the game “mousetrap” so I don’t want to disturb it too much if necessary.

😆 dont mind if i do, as penguin said vegasking access to pump is behind the metal plate at front of machine on the left and is a twist fit.

Er, no. The drain pump is in the front left hand corner of the machine. The outlet from the drain pump feeds the rear two tubes in the matrix.
If you go onto http://www.bshappliancecare.com and follow the spare parts links into the eshop, you can pull up the exploded diagrams for your machine – it might be a bit clearer then.

Just behind the two rear pipes that are adjacent to the blue one I seem to have what looks like a plastic container that seems to be full of some sort of orangy brown goo, is this worth investigating?

Leave well alone, that is the water softener, it should be full of that ‘goo’ 😉

Is this said drainage pump, if so how does it twist apart and where would i look for a blockage, would it be in the flexible black rubber section where it joins what i imagine would be a sump.

As a fellow yorkshireman, do you offer a service of repairing dishwashers?
Think I might have got as far as I can go even with your excellent advice, can’t split the drain pump so it’s either get someone in or but another.
