ParticipantHi,
I have a newly fitted integrated dishwasher that has an apparent problem.
During the wash cycle it will make a horrendous grinding/grating noise. If I interrupt the cycle then restart there is no problem.
Has anyone experienced similar problem and if so can you provide some advice.
p.s. This is our first ever dishwasher so we are novices
Thanks
CamR

Bit of an odd one, this. It would suggest a foreign object being carried around in the circulation pump – stopping it allows it to drop away. However, if the machine is brand new, you may not habe had time to block it yet 😀 …… The other possibility is that the pump is “aerating” or “cavitating”. This a condition whereby the pump is only partially full of water and has air trapped in the housing. Modern dishwashers use so little water that the level becomes critical to operation. By switching on and off for a moment, you may be allowing the air to escape and a little more water to enter the main pump.
I have to say I have not heard of this as an issue with these machines, so it’s a bit of logical speculation. There are a few BSH engineers on the site who may be able to advise further. However, it’s under warranty, so if no easy fix appears, get BSH out tgo sort it.

It’s not your copper water supply pipe to the machine ‘banging’ is it?

It’s not the copper pipes, they are secured in clip holders.
Is it worthwhile taking the filter soff and having a look inside?
Thanks

Always worth removing the filters for a good clean – unfortunately the pump is mounted separately to one side, so there is nothing to see. 🙁

I have found screws from the fitting kit ending up in one of the pumps.
A result of a kitchen fitter with butter fingers. 🙂 -
