I was doing a washing machine repair when the customer asked me if I could get a part for her tumble drier. She had previously had a Whirlpool technician there to repair her fridge and he had looked at the drier and diagnosed a faulty TOC. I don’t like to trust someone elses diagnosis so I got the meter out and had a quick check myself. The TOC was OK but there is also what I assume to be a thermistor. This is a sort of bayonet fit into the heater cover and had been removed. It did not seem very secure when I tried to refit it so I don’t know if there is a clip or some such missing. There are 3 2 way block connectors for the heater assembly, 1 to the element via the TOC reads 21 ohms, 1 to the thermistor reads 21K and the other just goes to a wire loop. Is there a module somewhere that’s the likely culprit? I’m not sure if I will get this particular job but it would be handy to know for the future.

The NTC on top of the heater is a limiter. @ 25 deg should read between 18k-22k ohms and at 60 deg 4.5k – 5.5k ohms. What was original fault??

    Hi guys.

I`ve got one of these not heating but then occasionatly it does.
Is it likley to be the sensor at the top of the heater? or something else.

I need to sort this quickley as it is mine and her indoors keeps threatening me!!!.says she will get somebody in to fix it but I`m not scared, she can`t hear me on the computer 8).

    Thanks.

    Chris.
