ParticipantI have a 27 month old unit which I suspect has been abused by the better half in the normal way; i.e. opening door when hot, abandoning before cooling cycle complete, overfilling etc etc. I have had to reset the trip stat on several occasions.
Anyway, now it looks like the heating element has gone open circuit on metering, all the temp. regulators/trip stats are short when disconnected so no problem there. I believe it took out the mini-RCD on the ring when it went!
I’ve identified the spare as part no 492159, Heater-element, price 72.50 GBP from the QuickFinder app. on bshappliancecare.com (total price including £6 p&p £79.55).
I have a couple of Qs:
Is the best/cheapest way to obtain the part?
Fitting – when the rear access cover is removed, the element is contained within the mid-grey assembly hanging off the back of the drum. What’s the correct way to remove, fit and re-assemble? Can it be done without removing the whole assembly from the carcass/drum or not? If not, how is the assembly to be removed from the carcass?
Many thanks in advance for the answers, guys!
