ParticipantBosch Extraxx 17, E No. BUC11700GB/01 has no live getting to the brushhead motor circuit board. I’ve checked the switches etc in the handle and I think the fault might be in the microswitch which shuts off the brush when the handle is vertical. This microswitch is mounted in the main motor housing but I don’t know how to remove the white plastic bearing rings from the ends of this housing. Is anyone familiar with these cleaners as it’s the first one I’ve seen? 🙄

Its a Vax upright Ive replaced a few motors in these both the vax and bosch versions I spray a little polish on the rings and push the spring loaded pegs in and gently easy them over never had a switch in the base faulty though just plenty of motors

There’s a cut-out in the main body of the vac, on the front, behind the giant floor tool, tiny little button. This cuts out the brush-head motor when the brush-roll gets blocked.

🙄 I’ve repaired quite a few of the vax, which are pretty much the same, and have had a bad connection in the 2 wires that go to the small pcb in the head unit. They normally break where the wire comes through into the head assy.

Yes Merv, there is no continuity between the black wire from the cutout device and the black wire to the PCB whether the microswitch is in or out. It could well be an internal break in the wire from the microswitch to the PCB.
Thanks Mark, I will try the polish and see if it helps.Phil

It looks like Vax are trying to outdo Dyson in their quest for the most difficult appliance to dismantle and re-assemble. 👿 It was the microswitch, one of its spade tags had snapped off. I will have to order a new one (Part No. 417915 ?) but none of my supliers seem to keep it as a stock item, which usually means I have to wait at least a month. 😥

Definately a broken wire from head s/w I’d say.
We send them back to MK workshop for repair/replacement,as apparently they are pig to strip down any further. 😈

🙂 They are a bit of a pig to dismantle, and as for getting spares don’t even go there.I have just told vax we are not being service agents anymore, because I am fed up of waiting months for spares!!!!(even belts and brushrollers).

Thanks Swerv. I see this part is shown as in stock at Connect. I already ordered the Bosch one but they are not too expensive so I can order the Vax one as well. 🙂

😥 The Vax microswitch arrived today and I started the long process of fitting it and re-assembling the machine. It is a changeover switch so you have to connect to the right 2 tags. I thought I had carefully checked against the old switch to know which 2 to use but I must have got it wrong as the roller motor now operates when the machine is vertical but not when angled over 😡 So its back to square one.

Just as well I didn’t wait for the Bosch switch. The one I ordered, part No. 417915 arrived today and it’s not even the right switch, it’s the rocker switch for the main On/Off control 😕
