Participantmissus spotted drum not turning during wash – called me and just as i got there a blue flash from under the machine. Took back off, took motor out and brushes are knacked. replaced them this morning but motor still not turning. are there any simple tests i can do to test the motor/motor control board?

It is possible that the armature protection fuse has gone in the motor. A meter will tell all. Power off if you are going to have a look yourself.

There’s 5 or 6 pins in the connector block – do you know which I should use to test? also, if it is the fuse is it easy to get at or does the motor case have to be separated (i did notice a couple of TorX screws but I’ve no idea what they release.
Thanks in advance.

Conitinuity between 2 pins. 3 circuits in total. Fuse =New motor unfortunately. Recheck brush fitting.

I haven’t checked the circuits yet as I’d put the motor back in the machine and replaced the back-panel, but is it really not possible to replace a fuse in the motor? A replacement motor is nearly as much as a new bottom-end machine 🙁

Not like a normal fuse. Yes sad really. A good machine yours is.

just done the continuity check…
the connector block shows pin numbers 1 thru 8 (with 1 and 8 pins missing). The only continuous circuit is thru pins 2 & 3, nothing else. 🙁
Thanks for your help anyway.

If Pins 2 and 3 are showing 0.8 – 1.4 ohms then the overload fuse is intact.
There is no connection on pins 1 and 8, so thats correct.
Pins 4-5 should have 1.8 – 10 ohms across them
Pins 6-7 should have 14 – 130 ohms across themUn plug appliance when attempting these measurements.

2-3 showing approx 2ohms
4-5 no circuit
6-7 15 ohms (enough to stop the audible continuity confirmation – whoops)December 23, 2006 at 6:09 pm #198726gegsy

Pins 2 -3 seems a tad high 😕
Pins 4 – 5 is definately a problem. As mentioned previously check the brush fitting and connection. If that is all ok the it sounds like winding damage and new motor unfortunately 😥Greg

Ridiculous price. Not worth fixing as due to the age of the machine the timer/motor control board might be next, or the drum bearings etc…
might as well just by cheap crap every 2-3 years
