    Hello,
I have a basic WAA24160GB/01 washing m/c which refuses to drain fully (and incidentally makes grinding noises).
I checked for blockages in the trap and the outlet pipe (water poured down comes out of the trap). With the trap plug (cap/screw??) off, I can see (and feel) the pump impellor spinning quite strongly when the machine is on “drain”. However, at rest, the impellor shaft wobbles. I can’t believe that this is how it is meant to be, unless the drain plug (which is admittedly made of high quality plastic) is supposed to be some sort of bearing and keep the shaft in position when screwed in.
I have ordered a new pump 144192 from Whitegoods. Can somebody reassure me that I am on the right track?
    Thanks,
    Andy

    Martin,
thanks for the reply. I had already fitted the genuine Bosch pump part number 144192 supplied by UK Whitegoods (3 days to arrive with the cheapest postage). The replacement part looked a bit cheap and nasty, but then so did the one I took off.
It was not a difficult job, although the grubscrew that secures the pump in place in its hole in the front panel is in an awkward position and it required a bit of metal crushing with pump pliers to get a screwdriver on it. It also looks, at first sight, confusingly like a corroded rivet. I replaced this screw with a cross-head self tapper. I have added all this info. for the benefit of anybody else who might have to tackle this job.
    Best wishes,
    Andy

It is a Torx headed screw and a T20 screwdriver will suffice. (Available in any DIY toolstore)
    😉
