ParticipantBeen to this machine, the brushes were worn. I changed them and cleaned the comm, but still no joy. The relays are clicking ok. The insulation figure varies widely when I twiddle the wiring to the motor (when unplugged from the motor). Unfortunately I ran out of time so didn’t have time to investigate further. I think it could be a number of things:
1. Brushes wrongly fitted or wrong brushes. I could not find the correct part number for these, but as far as I can see there are only two types of brushes that will fit. Tried one type, which I think was too long, so fitted the other type.
2. Problem with the wiring harness. Part numbers are 625488 to 625496, but there’s no descriptions or photos anywhere. Anyone knows which one is which?
3. Problem with board. What do you think?

00625488 is the Cable Harness assy from the motor to PCB.
00616505 are the carbons.August 27, 2016 at 9:04 pm #440505washingmachinewoman

have you checked the continuity across the motor plug pins to see if the internal fuse has blown?

I take it you mean the motor pins, not the wiring plug?
If it turns out to be blown, I guess that means a new motor?August 30, 2016 at 11:40 am #440508Martin

It’s not unknown for some to simply short across that thermal fuse. Others, more adventurous and consciencious have sought out the fuseable link from a supplier on the wonder wide web. (There was a thread on the very subject not long back though right now I’m not in a position to search for it).

Found the forum post, thanks for the pointer! https://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/forumsph … 89989.html
Had to google it, as search fonction on ukwhitegoods forum unhelpfully removes some terms. Very interesting. Have to check this machine’s spin speed as suggested part is for 1200rpm.
BTW, I would never short a thermal cut out, it’s there for a reason! :fire:September 1, 2016 at 7:55 am #440510washingmachinewoman

The fuse was indeed the problem… machine top spin speed is 1400rpm, the hotpoint thermal fuse is for 800 to 1200rpm, also due to other advise on ukwhitegoods on replacing thermal cut outs, decided not to do it. Customer decided to go with new motor. Thanks all.
