Participantsecond one i have come across in that when the belt is attatched there is a strange bearing knocking type noise like there is a bit of play in there. but when the belt is disconnected sounds fine not your usual bearing type rumble etc. is there a known issue with these?

really? completly sounds like its coming from the housing and the tension is making it knock in the housing?

tried belt but no difference, on second inspection sounds like its the motor thats the fault but not exactly cheap on these.

Wouldn’t harm to squirt a bit of 3 in 1 into the motor ballrace bearings to see if that helps? 💡

Had same fault with a Hotpoint recently. Does your drum pulley have flats on it? On the Hotpoint I had, drum pulley was slightly loose. When drum spun by hand, no noise, but with the tension from the belt the pulley would ‘knock’ as it slightly slipped!!! Bugger to tighten up though!

yea tightened the pulley and greased the bearings on the motor but no joy. think the motor is shot bit surprising on a bosch just over 2 years old.

i once had a queer ticking/knocking noise on a bosch. like you it only seemed to happen with belt on. after a bit of digging around i discovered that the tacho magnet was slightly loose on the armature. two spots of carefully placed superglue and the noise disappeared. mind you have to strip the armature out to do it. hold magnet with finger/thumb and see if you can turn it slightly back and forth. i cant really explain why, but it cured it.
