Bosch WAE24162 – Fabric Softener & Annoying Bleep!

Hi

I bought a reconditioned Bosch WAE24162 yesterday (6 months guarantee)

However, after couple of different washes, it does not appear to be taking the fabric softener from the drawer (very annoying as this was the same problem I had with my crappy old ariston)

Before I call the place where I bought it from, is there anything I can check/do to see fix it myself? I have already checked the drawer and given it a good clean…

Also, at the end of the program the machine lets out an annoying beep – can one of you explain in plain english how to shut it off please – I cant understand the awful instructions in the manual!

First off , if its not taking conditioner it prob won’t be the drawer. More than likely It’ll be the holes in the roof of the detergent drawer area blocked.

If you look up into the roof , look at a spot in the middle approx 1 -2 inches from the front . There should be 4 little square holes…….probably filled up with black mould !!! Get yourself a long electrical cable tie and have a good poke around in the holes. You should be able to get the cable tie into the holes and get it pushed right in ( the cable tie will need ‘feeding’ in as its quite a shallow channel ) You can know use the cable tie like a ‘chimney sweeps brush’ clearing out and loosening any debris/mould in there.

Once cleaned out , put the appliance on an empty 90*C wash to flush through the machine. You should do this once a month.

Finally , when not in use , leave the appliance door and drawer slightly open to allow good air circulation and the drawer/door area to dry out.

The beep i will check tomorrow as i’m not at home at the moment

Thanks so much for that – it worked a treat
I used a cable tie and some bathroom cleaner, and then rinsed it all out by carefully ‘firing’ some hot water up there and then ran it on the 90deg wash as you recomnended…

It now works perfectly!
