ParticipantPrior to our move the washing machine worked fine but 10 washes or so in its playing up.
Fills fine, drains fine, spins fine, rinses fine. I replaced the heating element on recommendation from the local repair shop, this worked fine for two washes and now we’re back to square one.
I’ve tried turning off all other appliances in the kitchen when running but it still trips so I’m pretty sure it’s a fault with the machine. It’s currently half taken apart in the kitchen, I cannot see any obvious wiring damage (not remotely an expert on these things). I’ve felt about for leakages but again, cannot see anything glaringly obvious.
Any ideas before I try to get it into the repair shop?
Thanks in advance.
(PS, I’m a simple stay at home mum so easy on the technical jargon 😉 )

There’s an earth leak somewhere that needs finding. Usual culprit is the motor but needs testing with a Megger. Perhaps your local shop best equipped to sort it for you? 😀

Think you might be right Martin, never know until you ask though eh? (And I was so pleased with myself thinking I’d fixed it after replacing the element!) Thankfully they’ve said they’ll test it for £15, so not a massive amount to lose if it’s that unfixable.
Many thanks for the quick reply!

Just a quick one, if it’s an earth leak from the motor, is this indicative of new brushes or a whole new motor? Looking at the price of new motors I’ll have to sell my first born to fund one!

It could just need new brushes and a good clean. It’s gonna cost £15 to find out so well worth a punt without putting the kids at risk. 😉
