ParticipantHi Folks.
Went to this job today, fault code F21 in display, start button not illuminating. Checked UKW Fault code guide and searched website but this fault not found, Rang Bosch “you need an engineer-its a motor fault”.
Checked brushes, found to be defective and replaced but F21 still displays.
Is there a reset procedure for this, or is the control board u/s ?Many thanks in anticipation,
Regards,
Mike

ParticipantYou have to enter the test programme – Set selector switch to the 6 o’clock position , hold the spin speed button , turn the selector switch one click clockwise and after a couple of seconds release the spin speed button. It may still show F21 but then switch off and switch back on and it should clear.

Thanks for that Paul, Guessed it might be something like that.
Have the fault codes not been published for this range or have I missed them somewhere?
Regards,
Mike

ParticipantI don’t know Mike. i have access to them because i’m a BSH man.
TBH , F21 can also be caused by electrical spikes from the supply and a lot of the time the F21 fault is in the board rather than the motor 🙁

Hi Folks.
Went back to this machine today, F21 displays but thats it. None of the other buttons illuminate or have any action when operated. Checked motor TOC all ok. Do I put my money on the power module or the control module?. Anyone any previous experience to call upon? Urgent job, busy pub, machine on three times a day every day.
Thanks in anticipation,
Regards,

Recently had same fault on 2 wae24364’s (used 5 or 6 times a day). Replaced power module, and configured, all ok now. BSH Technical offered little help other than saying fault maybe caused by mains spike. It seems to me that when machines are heavily used carbon dust causes short on motor and spikes module. Clean motor thoroughly before fitting new carbons. I’ve sold loads of these, I hope it’s not going to be an epidemic!!

I found this old thread (and other similar ones on same subject) that need a little ‘clarification’ so to speak based on mike412’s findings.
With this type of machine that has ‘touch sensor’ control buttons it is necessary to isolate the motor (i.e unplug it) and reset the module before carrying out the repair. With the motor unplugged and the machine switched off at the selector switch. Holding any button and rotating the selector switch will re-establish the LED lights. Thus allowing full control of the buttons and you have fully ‘awakened the control module once again from its slumbers’.
Now replace the carbon brushes and job done!
Utilise the same technique for other error codes…. 😉

Blimey, that info. seems rather vital! Could save a few people from a lot of grief. Are we going to be able to find it here when needed or could it go somewhere more prominent?

thank you ive been sitting on a mint machine locked on f21. ill find a motor for it and give it a go then best of all find a customer.
strangely though i did have another locked out in a customers home. she tried it a couple of days later and it worked without any reset method.
