Hi,
I have been lurking on this site for info/advice for quite a while but this is my first post.

I have had this machine for about 10 months and today it has tripped the electrics twice and has stopped spinning. I bought this machine as it is supposed to be quiet, (my daughter is severely autistic and very noise sensitive) even so it has always been noisy on spin and I think it has been getting noisier lately. The drum is not noisy when I rotate it with my hand.

Before it quit there was a warm smell coming from the area but at the time I thought it was coming from the dishwasher so ignored it 😳 . I am assuming that the motor has burnt out.

A bosch engineer will be coming out on friday to look at it but I wondered what you guys thought the cause of the problem may be.

Just in case anyone has the same problem, it turned out to be the heater. Apparently this model is noisy on spin anyway so that had nothing to do with it.

All repaired under guarantee and up and running now 😀

I spoke to soon, washing machine has tripped the electrics and blown several fuses 🙁 the engineer has had the top and the front off the machine but can find no faults. I have plugged the machine into a different socket and it will get through one or two washes and then start tripping the electrics again.

I have been searching on here and have read about worn brushes causing this problem, is it possible for a machine this age to have worn brushes already.

if the heaters gone, and its noisy, and now its doing it again, im just wondering if maybe the drum shaft is broken, and its catching the heater

shouldnt rellay be happenening at that age, but anything is possible these days

This could be the case as I think it is the heavier loads that are tripping electrics, I am not overloading it but it is things like towels that seem to set it off.
Would I notice any difference when turning the drum by hand?

If you still have the old heater, have a look to see if there is scoring of the element near the rubber grommet.

If the drum had worn a hole in the heater it would trip every time it fills up for a wash. If it tends to trip only on heavier loads it sounds more like a motor fault. Any engineer worth his salt would investigate further in any case if he removed a heater that had been cut by the drum.
