ParticipantHi
I am in the process of buying a washing machine and i was wondering if the Bosch WAE28363 is any good. I am ideally looking for a machine that will last and if it does break down it can be repaired for a reasonable amount.Anyone else out there that can recommend a machine? It must be capable of taking a height reduction kit, and cost below £450
Any pointers would be appreciated
ThanksMay 16, 2008 at 11:48 am #252236don

Hi Keller
The Bosch Classixx 1400 spin is one of our best sellers of what has proved to be a good range of machines with it`s two year warranty. To save a few bob on the Bosch genuine reduction kit you could just purchase a sheet of alloy and drill your own holes for fixing 😉
On another note for a few pounds more you could consider one of our own machines which have been designed by engineers on this site. The ISE5 1600 spin AAA rated with a full five year warranty at £449 comes in the price range. After sales service is carried out locally and the spares are reasonably priced too 😉 Not sure if the machine will come off to take a reduced lid though. I`m sure someone will tell.

Hi Don
Thanks for the info and the quick response. Is there a height reduction kit for the ISE 5 machine? Or if I go with the sheet of ali on the top do you know what height the machine will then be?
Thanks for your help.
Also i trust that the machine is well known and servicable by most engineers?
ThanksMay 16, 2008 at 11:52 am #252238Kate XXXXXX

I just bought one of these ISE5’s, and I have to say I’m delighted with it. Washes beautifully, VERY quiet, doesn’t eat socks! 😀 😀

ThanksI`m sure Ken or one of the other guys will respond shortly to the lid issue. As far as the service aspect is concerned all engineers are approved by ISE to carry out installations and repairs. If you click on my ISE link above you can see the product spec and ethos to the machines.

Hi Keller,
Any height reduction kit is simply a sheet of metal to replace the lid and lowers the height by a couple of centimetres at best, it depends on the height of the lid. I don’t have that info to hand on the ISE5 in all honesty.
That said, the only reason that one is used rather than the lid simply being removed, is to keep small fingers out and to stop dust getting in. Essentially any old sheet of ply or metal cut to size will do as the lid on most machines is little more than a dust cover and for the obvious safety reasons. And, a bit of ply or sheet metal is likely considerably cheaper than a “height reduction kit” as that’s basically what it is for most, a sheet of galvanised metal with a few holes in it and a bit of a seal around the edge.
The only caveat is that it may alter the splash rating of the machine o it may be prudent to get some form of foam seal to go around the edge where it meets the cabinet to seal it a little better.
But yes, the lid can be removed to allow the fitting of such a thing. The only thing I’d say is that it has to be covered in some manner for safety’s sake.
We haven’t produced a reduced lid for the ISE machines simply because we’ve hardly ever been asked for such a thing, twice now I think.
What is the height that you actually have?

Hi Keller,
Removing the lid will reduce the height by 3cm or 1 3/4″ roughly.
