ParticipantHey all,
Just got a new Bosch WAE28467GB on Tuesday, done an empty load on it as stated in the manual…I could hear a slight faint cracking sound every now and again when the machine is agitating, it can’t be heard when it spins up faster. It sounds as though it is doing it with each rotation of the drum, but only when the drum moves on its suspension. (dump a load of towels in the drum and it occurs more often).I could hear it when it was doing its first empty cycle, so it can’t be anything I’ve put into the machine. It happened only every now and again during this first cycle, guessing because the drum wouldn’t get moved on its suspension as much as when it has clothes.
Is this a normal sound? It can only be heard from a meter or so away, but louder if I listen from the side, or underneath or through the detergent drawer.
Any ideas? It ok or does it need replacing?
Cheers 🙂

Would the brushes being new cause this problem to occur even when the drum is spinning down? When the drum is spinning down (and up for that matter), there is a point where there is a lot more ‘movement’ to the drum, at this point I can hear it when it is spinning back down.
Its done the empty wash, two washes on cottons-stains with wash plus, and just now a wash on cottons with no wash plus. Do love the machine so far, clothes come out so much drier than from my 9 year old Ariston which packed in, causing the impulse purchase of said Bosch! Feel softer too, towels felt all stiff from old machine, same detergent!
Really hoping the machine doesn’t have a problem, as a swap means waiting in etc. Guess I’ll wash clothes more often for a few days to get more use out of it in it’s early days to wear it in.
….and that loads just finished! Just had a quick look. If I spin the drum by hand I hear no odd noises, but if I move the drum sideways I hear what sounds like tapping, and it continues as the drum stops moving on its suspension. Sounds like either just the suspension, or maybe a wire loom touching the tank? Doesn’t sound like something to be worrying about, or does it…?

ParticipantHave all the transit bolts and collars been removed ? if you push the drum back towards to rear does it bang or feel like its hitting something ?

Nope no bang…all three bolts and collars removed (collars being the white things with hooks on them to hold the waste pipe during transit?). It did bang when I moved the machine while getting it off its packaging because I’d left the collars in…didn’t know they had to come out, my first new machine! But they were out before the machine was sited and powered on 🙂
