    Good evening all,

I’ve taken a look at a fault with the above washing machine this morning, and would welcome any assistance.

Essentially, when switching the machine on at the central control switch, it immediately switches itself off.

I’ve tried it several times, and suspect either a fault with the ‘operating module,’ or the ‘power module.’

The connections to the above appear good, although I’ve not had time to visually inspect the above modules, although they probably won’t show any signs of burning etc…

Anyway, I wonder if there is a diagnostic sequence that could be used, or is there something else that I should be inspecting?
(although the appliance only switches on for a second or so, prior to switching itself off.)

One reason being the modules cost £274.78 & £220.48 respectively! (programmed, yet non returnable)

Perhaps, I need to refer my customer to Bosch Service? (it is only around 4 years old)

i would inspect the power module , could be a slug

the power module would be my guess but cant be certain

all these units have 2 power supplies , a standby supply to detect switch on and a main supply to power everything

so either the main power supply starts and fails or the main supply starts and one of the chips has a short which shuts it all down. that short could be in the top board

    Good morning,

I’ve not inspected the power module yet, although a relay in it clicks several times, prior to switching itself off.

I will contact QER, and see if they can test and repair the above.

    Thanks Dave,

Yes, I wondered if QER had closed… phone constantly engaged, and website u/s.

So, along with EMW closing a couple of years ago, it seems like such companies are becoming obsolete…

Well, I’ve contacted ‘easypcb’ earlier today, and he/they are closed due to ill health for several months, and cannot help at the moment.

I’ve emailed ‘get it fixed’ who appeared on a Google search, and will wait to see if they can assist.

Does anyone know any other reputable companies that offer such a service, as bith my main contacts closed in recent years? (EMW and QER)

Well, I sent the above board to ‘get it fixed’ last Wednesday (03/09) and they are unable to inspect it until next Monday! (15/09)

I understand that they were closed for holidays for several days last week.

I chased them up, and received an email yesterday to confirm that the board had arrived with them, although, as mentioned, it will not be ‘booked in’ until next Monday, due to a backlog…

So, I’m not sure about this company at all, and remain doubtful that they will be able to repair the board.

Moving forward, does anyone know any reputable electronics companies that can repair such for future reference?

tend to do a lot of my own board repairs if its in the power supply section so have not used QER ot EMW for years

other engineers have used easypcb and had no problems

    search easypcb in search bar

Well, I’ve received email confirmation from ‘getitfixed’ this afternoon, confirming that they have received the above Bosch W/M board.

However, they have now informed me that it will be around 6-8 weeks before the board can be inspected/tested! (a standard repair queue, I gather)

They have also let me know that they can offer an ‘Express Service,’ at a cost of £35.00 should I wish to have the board inspected sooner!

I have emailed them back, to let them know how disappointed I feel with the above, and await their response…

    😮

    or a marketing ploy

bet they never mentioned that before you sent it

time for a very bad reveiw as it should be stated it could take 8 weeks to even look at it

Well, I chased up getitfixed yesterday, and they have come back with an extremely high repair quote.

They have determined that the fault lies within the smps (switched mode power supply) and would like £176.00 to repair the board! ( electronic engineers services @ £148.00 and £28.00 parts)

They have also decreed that “no tests can be made at this stage,” and “once the unit has been serviced, we can test the other functions that the unit is coming with.”

A new programmed board from Bosch is around £240.00 – hence, I’ve asked them not to proceed.

In the meantime, my customer has purchased a Beko washing machine, so I’ll request that the original board is returned, and see if I can repair it, as the washer is only 4 years old, and in very good condition…

well the switch mode power supply is the one part of the board you normally can repair but the repair price is nothing short of silly

there are normally 2 power supplies on the board one for standby and one for when its operating. the stanby supply is normally one chip and cost about £3

The above ‘company’ have finally responded to my request not to proceed with the board repair, and to return the board.

Having phoned and emailed them several times, without reply, an email has finally been received today!

They have informed me that to return the board a charge of £46.00 would be incurred; Electronics Engineer Services & P+P

However, should the board be ‘recycled’ by them, the above fee would be waived.

So, a hard lesson has been learned by me, and I certainly cannot recommend the above company for any electronic repairs.

I would report them to trading standards and see what they say

£46 to return a faulty board is way above what is reasonable and am sure you were not informed about these charges at any point

looked at their reviews and there are lots of 1 star reviews this year

looking at their service charges it reads

“Please note that the return postage cost will be in addition to the service charge.
At our discretion, we may waive the service charge if you permit us to recycle the damaged unit.

    (b) Service Charge:

    £10 – Headphone, DVR/Camera, GPS Navigation
    £15 – Smart Phone, Smart Watch, Tablet/iPad, MP3 Player/iPod,
£24 – Gaming Console/Controller, PCB Board, Not Listed Items
    £30 – Laptop/Desktop PC, Audio HiFi Equipment,
    £45 – Drone/UAV “”

what worries me about that is why should they dispose for free but charge to return your property. that stinks of scam
