    Hello,

I recently bought this washing machine. I had to take the door off to fit it into the utility room but when I put it back on the lock (latch?) was up and I couldn’t shut the door.

I called the supplier but they refused to take it back as I had taken the door off and I can’t get hold of the local engineer they gave us a number to get it fixed.

I tried the release at the bottom of the machine but this isn’t working either.

I have two children under 2 so the washing is really piling up and I becoming a little desperate. Thanks in advance!

    Hi Dave,

My wording might be off. I think it’s the latch that keeps the door locked when a wash is on. This is up/engaged with the door open meaning I can’t close it

Well the bit on the door is called the hook but that should not move. The electric lock ( the part behind the front chassis front ) could be suspect. Are you sure that the door hinge is in seated in the chassis front cut out holes that the door hinge seats down into before the screws are fitted through the door hinge?

if that is the case you will need to hook something in it and pull it forward

find an old wire coat hanger and cut off about 8 inches or so
fold over one end to make it safe
fold about half an inch the other end at 90 degrees
make sure the machine thinks the door is open, hook this in the lock and pull it towards you into the unlocked postion

This model is capable of seeing the position of the lock and if the hook is engaged. If it’s not unlocking the lock as soon as you turn the machine on then the lock is faulty

as you close and open the door the lock is in the unlocked state to allow the door to open and close. could the mechanism be in the closed but unlocked state which would prevent the door from closing. similar to the problems dishwasher door locks have ?

It could be in the closed position as you say, but if the lock is working the machine should see this and unlock it or throw up an error (can’t remember what it is off the top of my head). Otherwise it’s most likely a faulty lock. I’m also unsure as to how taking the door off would cause this, I suspect there’s more to this story that we’re not getting
