    Bosch WAQ243D0GB/09 washer. FD9402 102556. Just out of guarantee………

E34 with a clicking door interlock. Fitted new lock – all OK. A few weeks pass then the problem starts again; so new lock ordered and fitted. Clicks but won’t lock and E34 again. 😕 BUT…. if the door is spaced slightly away from the front panel (3mm ish) door will lock and program starts as normal. Getting the door in the right position to start the machine is tricky, but is possible with persistence.

    Now the confusing bit……….

If the door peg was sprung like most other machines I would assume the spring is not pushing the peg far enough over to operate the interlock. But the door peg is fixed with no spring or adjustment at all: it also has a square hole that the interlock latches into; so the hook would have to twist backwards to hold the door shut and activate the lock mechanism…… but the door seems to ‘go forward too far’ and won’t activate the lock. The door handle is a moulded part of the outer frame so has no moving parts or influence on door position. The interlock locates into two holes where there is no adjustment.
I cannot really see how to cure this fault. If the door locks the machine will run as normal, so I can’t really see it being the module at fault. If the lock is activated outside the machine, it’ll start up as normal. But not when refitted.
Is this a known issue with these? Or am I missing the bleedin’ obvious? Any help would be appreciated!!

    Thanks!

    Steve.

    Thanks for the reply, electrofix.
No wear or strain showing – the door opens against a wall so cannot go back enough to strain the hinge. Peg locates exactly central into the lock aperture……… I can’t see what’s wrong here.
    Any BSH engineers can help?

Could there possibly be a deflection in the cabinet as a result of force against the door when it’s been closed?

It must be an alignment issue from what you’ve described. May be worth popping the front panel off and giving it a real good inspection to make sure it’s not dented or deformed slightly.

just a thought, is the plastic pull strip in the right position and not snagging on anything?

Back to this machine again…… 😡
Tried everything – alignment / adjustment / bend / fit new interlock….. just the same. I am now convinced it is the module that does not seem to respond correctly to the signal from the interlock. It may work one time in twenty.
    Any further thoughts?

    Cheers.

is the boot worn or damaged and not holding the door in the correct place ?

    Thanks for the reply, Wilf.
The door shuts perfectly; the door is straight, the front panel is unmarked, the boot is straight and in as new condition with no distortion. Looking at my original findings that the door needs to be in a certain position; well that didn’t seem to make any difference yesterday, so I am thinking that door position could be a red herring. He had kept the original interlock so I swapped it back in and exactly the same result – E34. What else is there left in the equation but the power module?
    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Steve.
