    Hi

Our Bosch WAQ28461 has developed a horrible grinding noise that starts approx half way into a wash cycle. I managed to capture it on my phone, it happens about 10 seconds in.

Everything goes back to normal for a couple of minutes, then it does it again. This happens a few times, but the clothes are clean and spun (most of the time, a few times recently, the clothes have still been very wet after a spin)

Does this sound like some kind of death rattle? Are these models easy to repair or should I start looking for a replacement?

    Thanks

There is something rubbing against the pump impeller. (A foreign object like a hairgrip or some such). Drain the filter as per user instructions and remove the filter. Check, with a torch, to see what’s in there, once the filter is removed?

    Thanks Martin

I drained it and inspected as you suggested but couldn’t see anything.

Called an engineer who initially retrieved a button, but it still made the noise, when he looked in the pump from underneath the machine he found a 2p coin in there, which would explain the noise and also the occasional failure to drain.

Sounds as good as new now.
