Bosch WAS28466GB/08 w/m Door Handle

Hi Folks.

Anyone got any previous on fitting a door handle to one of these?

I have spent absolutely ages trying without success. I am trying to fit part number 648708 handle to 703031 Frame and 660716 Frame-window. All new parts. Unassembled all looks and works ok, the handle actuates the lever and the pecker moves ok. But marry it all together and the handle is almost rigid. The new handle has a small “tab” on one corner which is broken off on the old handle (which is why I ordered a new handle “as well”). Does this tab need breaking off as part of the fitting process? It doesnt look like this is what should happen,the old handle if fitted is just as rigid and at £25.00 or so I would like to be sure. Any advice anyone?

It was way back last July when I fitted the same replacements as you Mike so forgive my memory lapse. But I don’t recall the need for breaking off any “tab” so please don’t go there. IIRC you have to slide the handle under the lever in order to unite the 2 components whilst wrestling with the door glass. Nothing too extreme or physical required either. Sorry for being so vague and hope I’ve been of some help?

I think the problem is I have a mixture of new/old part numbers. I had a look at a new one today in a shop and it looks like I am trying to fit an old handle on a new type inner door frame. The problem is although all the part numbers on the invoice are new numbers as in my original post CDSL may have sent me an old handle. Problem is I havent got the packaging to be able to check.
I have managed to overcome the “wrestling with the door glass” bit by standing the assembly on a ring of beer cans, full ones of course. I think that i will order another door handle and see what i get.

Feedback……

It was a problem with the frame 703031 not matching with the handle.

I took a gamble in the end and removed the 3-4mm “indent” around the edge where the handle fits. (difficult to describe but obvious when you have the part to hand) This is soft plastic, easily worked and I achieved a good result. Worked fine from thereon.

Job done.

Its a changed part and yes some times you get old and new and there’s no cut out to allow the handle to move. Basically old stock I’d say.
