Bosch wasching machine not, er, washing

I have a Bosch WFF 1401.

If I put it on any of cycles 1, 2 or 3 (“cottons & linens normal/eco/short”) it clicks round to “wash”, makes some normal washing machine sounds as if it is about to kick into action, but then just stops and sits there. If I put my ear to it I can hear it making a gentle humming noise inside. After a good few minutes it clicks round to 4, “additional spin”, for which it makes a lot of noise but doesn’t seem to actually spin. When I turn the machine off and open the door, the clothes inside are completely dry.

If I do any of those cycles with a Prewash, the prewash works fine. Water flows ok, drum spins, everyone is happy. Until it clicks round to wash, at which point it again just sits there doing nothing.

I took off the stip at the bottom and drained the black hose. I unscrewed the filter and looked for any major blockages but there was nothing there.

Any ideas?
