    Complaint that machine got to rinse cycle, stuck and started flashing WASH light.
    Customer could switch off, set to drain & spin which it did.
    Pump is perfect, motor, heater, fill valves all fine.

    He did mention a change of detergent from powder to those awful liquid sachets and said there appeared to be a lot of soap in the drum.
    would excessive oversoaping cause this light to flash?

    Wash light flashing would only indicate a mains supply interruption. There’s no over sudsing protection on this model.
